Pacific Highway Closure
Pacific Highway closure - On Monday and Tuesday night our Gold Coast team performed a scheduled shutdown of the Pacific Highway on behalf of RMS so they could conduct routine maintenance. The highway was closed from 2000 and 0500 between Stuarts Road and the GC Highway exits with a detailed detour set up to and from the highway.
Great work from all 14 of our Gold Coast team members who ensured a smooth set up and transitioning of the detour works.
Prior to the shutdown commencing we performed two Toolbox talks 1. Mates in Constructions (MIC) and 2. Importance of Safety, PPE and Team Culture within the Lack Group.

Mental Health Awareness
Great turn out to an early and cold morning at Canberra Depot on Thursday 25th July tackling the stigma around mental health and suicide in the construction industry.
Suicide is the leading cause of death among men aged between 15-44 and is 25% higher in the construction industry than any other industry, with young workers aged between 15 and 24 10 times more likely to commit suicide.
No one is immune to mental health issues, it affects both men and women in our industry which is why Lack Group has partnered with Mates in Construction.
Over the next few months, we will be rolling out Mates in Construction General Awareness Training though all our depots, giving our workers the tools to recognise workmates who may be struggling.

Team Engagement - LackSafe BBQ
On Friday the 19th of July our Lack Group’s Director and Northern NSW Operations Manager headed inland to Goonellabah to cook up a delicious BBQ for our workers and conduct a LackSafe information session.
Awards of recognition were handed out to TC’s Heather and Liam for their professionalism & commitment to their job. Congratulations on a job well done.

High praise on High Street
Lack Group Traffic Controller Iris has made a very popular impact on business owners in High Street while completing traffic control duties around the light rail precinct.
Iris has been praised for his attitude and interpersonal skills and has also been commended for his ability to familiarise himself with all the vehicles in the area to better assist the business owners.

LackSafe BBQ
Lack Group's Operations Manager for the Australian Capital Territory conducted our monthly LackSafe BBQ and Safety session in Canberra this morning. A large turn out once again from our strong dedicated team.
The key topics covered included safe work procedures, work site safety requirements, workplace communication, incident response and identification.

E-Stop Training
This morning, Lack Group’s Executive Traffic Manager, Peter, held a training session with our Traffic Controllers on how to operate E-Stops on the Pacific Motorway Upgrade in Northern NSW.
E-Stops are a remotely activated set of traffic lights that not only create a safer environment for our Traffic Controllers, but also for the public and road users.
Our commitment is to get our personnel off the road and out of the line of fire.
